Director of Bands
David Craig has been teaching band in Oklahoma for over 17 years. He is a graduate of Altus High School and the University of Oklahoma, where he was an active trombonist in the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Basketball Band, University Orchestra, and the OU Trombone Choir. He later earned a Master’s degree in School Administration.
His bands have earned recognition at regional, state, and national events, and he loves helping students discover how music can open doors to new experiences and opportunities. Throughout his career, Mr. Craig has taught in schools of all sizes across the state and is known for his dedication to music education and student growth. He is proud to serve as the director of the Newcastle Band Program.
Assistant Director of Bands
Pamela Welborn serves as the Assistant Band Director at Newcastle Public Schools. Before joining the Newcastle Racer Band program, she spent four years at Lone Grove, where she taught middle school and high school band, as well as directed the jazz band.
She earned her degree in Instrumental Music Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in December 2019. Alongside her teaching career, Ms. Welborn is an active performer, playing flute with the 145th Army National Guard Band. She is dedicated to inspiring students to grow as musicians and to fostering a lifelong love of music.
Guard Director and Coordinator
Allison Roush began color guard at 9 years old and performed with the Penn Color Guard in Mishawaka, Indiana, until November of 2023, when she moved to Oklahoma. For her senior year of high school, she marched with ORIGINS Independent World (2024), located in Austin, Texas. Allison also marched with the Boston Crusaders Color Guard (2023, 2024), and and intends to march with Boston until her age-out in 2027, when she will also complete her degree in political science and gender studies at OCCC, with plans to become a lawyer. Currently, Allison is marching with Mirage Performance Ensembles (2025), located in Dallas, Texas.
Beyond Color Guard, Allison loves to read books, hike, analyze literature, and stargaze!

About Our Band
The Newcastle Public School Band Program is a vibrant and growing community of student musicians. From the very first notes in Beginning Band to the award-winning performances of our High School Marching and Concert Bands, we provide opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and shine.
Our program includes:
Beginning Band – where students start their musical journey.
Middle School Intermediate Band – building strong skills and confidence.
Middle School Advanced Band – developing musicianship and performance excellence.
High School Concert Band – focusing on artistry, collaboration, and high-level performances.
High School Marching Band – combining music, teamwork, and school spirit.
